The Messenger god Mercury, otherwise known as Hermes, whom I prefer to trace back to the Egyptian god Thoth shifts from balance seeking Libra, to the depths of Scorpio on Sunday September 27th. Mercury rules over how one thinks, communicates, expresses, and reasons with another. Mercury is already in his retrograde shadow, and officially turns retro on October 13th. This is an impactful transit as it will take us through election season, clearly outlining that our ability to discern with reason will be dampened down. Mercury in his retrograde motion is the psychopomp, one who travels between the realms of this world, the 3d reality as we know it, and the realm of the Otherworld. Pop astrology belabors the challenges with Mercury retrogrades, and yes, technology snafus and travel delays can indeed be amplified in a Mercury retro. However, as an astrologer, I personally love these retrograde portals, as I utilize them as an opportunity to reflect on how to acquire new knowledge and new modes of self-expression. This Mercury retrograde is going to be an opportune time to regenerate and go beyond the surface, to the heart of what is real. As Mercury moves into Scorpio, you will most likely find your communication and thinking becoming more transformative, perhaps even psychological.
On Tuesday September 29th Saturn stations direct after a retrograde journey that began back in May. The planetary archetype of the teacher of self mastery has been assisting you in how you practically define the very foundations of your existence. This year of 2020 has been a year of great shedding and letting go for every human on Earth. Saturn will be in his home sign of Capricorn until the Great Conjunction on December 21st. From now to then it is ideal to drop all controlling, materialistic, and cold ways of approaching life, and to instead focus on the parts of your chart where Mars and Capricorn are living, particularly 15°-29° of each sign. In these spaces a peak initiatory experience is transpiring, that is truly offering focused disciplined transformation. This energy is all about getting sober and spiritually mature.
The Aries Full Moon ushers us into October, illuminating the relational axis on the first of the month. The Full Moon is exact at 5:05 pm edt, bringing to light the spaces and places you need to be more pioneering, direct, and courageous. The Aries Full Moon opposes the Libran Sun, so relationships are front and center as a training ground on maintaining healthy boundaries, being fierce in your independence, all while being compassionate, and cooperative. This lunation may have a deeply restless edge as much personal healing is available. Go to the Earth's sacred waters, Her oceans, rivers, streams, ponds, or even your bathtub for simple clearing rituals. Chiron, Moon, Mars, and Black Moon Lilith are all transiting Aries, asking each one of us to look into the shadowlands of our psyches. Both the inner divine masculine and the inner divine feminine are on a great healing journey. As each one of us fearlessly commits to this journey, we are ultimately raising the frequency of the collective consciousness of Mother Earth.
